THE BIG DRAW at Rich Mix

Get involved in our BIG DRAW event – PLAY UP! – at Rich Mix, part of the world’s biggest Drawing Festival in 2018.

PLAY UP! takes popular family games with drawing at their heart, changes the rules and adds a playful twist.

PLAY UP! wants you to do just that, misbehave, have fun and do it your way. Families are invited to personalise familiar games in an all-out drawing rebellion!

Who said ‘Hangman’ was boring? With ‘Fashionista Hangman’ the illustrated addition of a pair of glitter platforms might just let him walk! Imagine a giant ‘Guess Who?’ – Capture the unique personality of friends or family and add their portrait to the community of faces for a new look to the game. Or try your hand at a mind-bending 3D ‘Pictionary’ and let your story speak out in volumes! Whatever you choose, have fun, be playful and leave your mark in style!

FREE Big Draw certificates, stickers and goodie bags will be offered to participating children on the day of the event.

PLAY UP! has been commissioned by Rich Mix and developed in partnership with PATH (Play Association, Tower Hamlets).
The event is part of the world’s biggest drawing festival ‘THE BIG DRAW 2018‘ and takes place under the umbrella of Rich Mix family programme ‘Everyone A Maker’.

Dalston Portrait Collective Mural OPENS

Our Community Mural is on public display!

It’s time to celebrate – We’re holding an official opening on Saturday 26th May 2018 at 1.30pm sharp to launch the display of our community mural. Meet us in Dalston library foyer for a drink, a group photograph and an opportunity to say hello to the other artists involved. The mural can be seen on the external windows of Dalston Library, facing Dalston Square. There is also a second mural upstairs on the first floor, inside the children’s library – See the ‘Story Den’ or Under 5’s reading space.

‘Dalston Portrait Collective’ was a community art project run by Art Hoppers, commissioned by Hackney Council and for the public participation of locals and families in Dalston in the spring / summer of 2016. The public at large was invited to make a portrait drawing of themselves, their friends or family for a community mural of faces to be applied to the windows of Dalston Cllr James Library in Hackney!

We’re proud to announce that the mural is now up for all to enjoy and looks glorious!

THANK YOU SO MUCH TO EVERYONE WHO TOOK PART IN THE PROJECT! The drawings are beautiful, individual and represent a broad age range from toddlers to grandparents.
