Draw and Build a model village

We’re excited to be offering a family art activity at Hackney Council’s ‘Our Homes Festival’ celebrating 100 years of community housing.

Join us in the picturesque Hoxton Trust Community Garden where we’ll be building a 3D model village of the surrounding neighbourhood in pop, neon colours! Make a miniature house, a larger estate, a shop, a church or draw and cut trees to mark out the garden. Add your creations to our cardboard development and watch how the community grows with increasing numbers of homes on the map.

It’s going to be a sunny day. Wear shades as our neon homes will dazzle in the beautiful sunlight!

2019 marks 100 years since the 1919 Addison Act, which opened up funding to local councils to build ‘homes fit for heroes’ as people returned from WWI to inadequate housing and slums. It also placed more of a duty on councils to build homes for the poor.

The festival includes live DJ’s, more art, stalls, BBQ and all that Hoxton market has to offer.

See you there!
