The Big Green Draw Festival continues and we’re running a second event with our partners Rich Mix!

Join us on Zoom, Sunday 7th March. Our theme is geometry in nature:

Time defines us as a generation. As the world rotates around the sun, a day passes, a season, a year, and our story is imprinted onto the earth.

These layers of time, much like the rings on a tree trunk, tell the story of our world.

If we look closely at nature around us, life cycles and visual patterns of growth are everywhere. Flowers, plants, snowflakes and even human cells reveal geometric structures of incredible and intricate beauty. In nature we see science, maths and art work together. There is so much that we have learnt from the natural world, but what can we now learn, at a time when pollution and climate change present a threat to our future?

For our Big Draw family Zoom sessions, we’ll be looking closely at patterns in nature, spirals, and repeating shapes. In the spirit of reduce, reuse, recycle, we’ll take a look in our recycling boxes and get creative by drawing mandalas from plastic containers and card, we’ll create a spirograph effect from template shapes and learn how to draw the Fibonacci spiral. At the same time, we can reduce our waste and copy nature by reusing what we have!

If we explore the beauty of nature through creativity, we can better appreciate the delicate balance of our relationship with nature and make a positive commitment to support our natural world.

Let us learn nature’s messages of reduce, reuse and recycle, where nothing goes to waste.

Participating families will receive a FREE PlayPack to support this session through the post.

The pre-recorded film and live Zoom worked really well together, the film did a great job introducing the topic and preparing us for the session. The content was really well put together, beautifully presented and really interesting!

Local Mum

This is the first time my children used a compass, so we learnt a new skill. A lot of discussion on spirals and shapes and finding things around the house. Lot’s of communication between my children, reiterating the importance of reduce, reuse and recycle. We even had family discussion on how we can further improve our planet by wasting less.
