1st Draft of Ideas to Develop
The following are just initial concepts/ideas that need developing and evolving; please look at them with an open mind. Be inspired!
To redesign Kingsmead logo based on keeping the purple and gold trademark colours and the crown emblem
- Try a more creative ‘arty’ approach to the crown, making it less ‘royal’

The history
of the name King’s Mead shortened to Kingsmead is
Mead was short in old English for meadow. So King’s meadow and the King may have been Henry VIII. See below.

As for the name King’s mead, there are two common theories
1. The marshes were a hunting ground in Tudor times and Henry the eighth had hunting lodges here, hence King’s ward ( local council area) and the King’s Mead. Brook House on the Lea bridge roundabout was a Tudor house of some standing which King Henry visited and even met with his estranged daughter the future Mary 1st there.

2. The other one which is slightly less interesting is that it was named after a tavern called the Kings head but I can’t find any reference to this or a tavern.
